Explanation:

Meiosis is a double division which occurs in a diploid cell (or nucleus) and gives rise to four haploid cells (or nuclei), each having half the number of chromosomes as compared to the parent cell. Synapsis occurs during zygotene of meiosis-I. The two homologous chromosomes get paired to each other, and the process of pairing is known as synapsis. It produces a complex known as synaptinemal complex.
