Solution: The equations of motion of the collar give
−mg + N cosθ = 0   (i)
N sinθ = ma     (ii)

where m is the mass, N is the reaction force from the slide and θ = 30

Eliminating N from Eqs. (i) and (ii) yields
a = g tanθ = 9.81/ p3

a = 5.66 m/s2
