The modulus of rigidity and Poisson’s ratio of the wire are 2.87 × 10^10 N/m^2 and 0.379 respectively. What is the value of young’s modulus of the material of the wire.

(a) 1.08773 × 10^10 N/m^2

(b) 7.915 × 10^10 N/m^2

(c) 7.5725 × 10^10 N/m^2

Best answer
The correct option is (b) 7.915 × 10^10 N/m^2

The best I can explain: Poisson’s ratio = Y/2n – 1

Y=2n(1+Poisson’s ratio)

Y=7.915 × 10^10 N/m^2.
