Explanation:

A substance that is able to cause a chain transfer in a chain polymerisation is called a chain transfer agent. It gives an atom to the radical at the growing end of a polymer chain and in doing so it results into a radical which can start the growth of a new chain. CCl4 is a chain transfer reagent.
