Assertion : An increase in surface area increases the rate of evaporation.

Reason : Stronger the inter-molecular attractive forces, faster is the rate of evaporation at a given temperature.

Best answer

Correct option (c) A is true but R is false

Explanation:

Greater is the surface area, faster is the rate of evaporation at a given temperature. This is due to the fact that more surface area means more number of molecules are present at the surface which can then be evaporated easily. Strong intermolecular forces of attraction slow down the rate of evaporation.
