Distinguish the following pair of compounds

(a) Benzoic acid on treatment with sodium hydrogen carbonate produces efferversence due to evolution of CO2, as it is more acidic than phenol.

(b) Pentan-2-one gives a yellow ppt. of iodoform on treatment with a mixture of NaOH and I2 but not Pentan-3-one, as it lacks the terminal methyl ketone group.

(c) Benzaldehyde gives a brick red precipitate on treatment with Fehling’s A and B solution on oxidation but acetophenone does not.
