A man of mass 60 kg records his weight on a weighing machine placed inside a lift. The ratio of weights of man recorded when lift is ascending up with a uniform speed of 2 m/s to when it is descending down with a uniform speed of 4 m/s will be

Option (b) is correct

Explanation

Mass of man m=60kg

Weight of the man W=mg=60×10=600N

Weight of the man in the lift ascending or descending  with any uniform velocity will be same as in stationary state.ie 600N

Hence the required ratio is 1 here
