Best answer
Correct Answer - Option 4 : 1839 m/s

Concept:

Root Mean Square Speed is defined as the square root of the mean of squares of the speed of different molecules.

  • The RMS speed of any homogeneous gas sample is given by:

\(V_{rms}= \sqrt {\frac{{3P}}{ρ}} \)

Where P is the pressure & ρ is the density of the given gas

Calculation:

Given:

At NTP

P = 1.013 × 105 N/m2, ρ = 0.09 kg/m3

\(V_{rms}= \sqrt {\frac{{3P}}{ρ}} \)

\( V_{rms}= \sqrt {\frac{{3\;×\;1.013\;\times\;10^5}}{0.09}} \)

Vrms = 1837.57 m/s ≈ 1838 m/s
