Concept:-

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)- OCD is repetitive, irresistative, and uncontrollable thoughts and ritualistic actions.
  • It is characterized by intrusive thoughts that produce uneasiness, apprehension, fear, or worry (obsessions), repetitive behaviors aimed at reducing the associated anxiety (compulsions), or a combination of such obsessions and compulsions.​
  • Various types of obsession include Repetitive thoughts, obsessional images, obsessional rumination, obsessional doubts, obsessional impulses, obsessional rituals, obsessional slowness.
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the most effective treatment.
  • Pharmacological treatment includes antidepressants including SSRIs. (Clomipramine, Fluvoxamine, Fluoxetine, Sertraline).

A phobia is an irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation or to anything.

  • Acrophobia: Fear of height Hematophobia: Fear of the sight of blood
