Correct Answer - Option 3 : Bell's palsy

Concept:-

Bell's palsy

  • It results from dysfunction of the cranial nerve VII (facial nerve) that directs the muscles to one side of the face, including those that control blinking and closing of the eyes and facial expressions such as smiling.
  • Bell's palsy, also known as idiopathic(its exact cause is unknown) facial palsy, is a form of temporary paralysis or weakness on one side of the face.
  • Bell's palsy is the most common cause of facial paralysis.
  • The facial nerve also carries nerve impulses to the tear glands, salivary glands, and a small bony muscle in the middle of the ear.
  • Facial nerves also transmit taste sensations from the tongue.

  • In Guillain-Barré syndrome, the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The syndrome can affect the nerves that control muscle movement as well as those that transmit pain, temperature, and tactile sensations. This can result in muscle weakness and loss of sensation in the legs and/or arms.
  • Meningocele is one of the common congenital neural tube defects.
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).
