Correct Answer - Option 4 : Reflecting and clarifying

Concept:-

Following are Non-therapeutic Communication Techniques which means "Blocks" to the communication of feelings and ideas

  • Arguing and judgmental responses
  • Closed-ended questions
  • Advice giving

The above techniques should be avoided in therapeutic communication.

Use therapeutic communication techniques to encourage the expression of feelings and thoughts.

  • Reflecting - Throwing back the patient's statement in the form of a question helps the patient identify feelings.
  • Clarifying - Asking the patient to recount, elaborate, or give examples of thoughts or feelings to get an explanation of what is unclear.
