Correct Answer - Option 4 : 2

Valence electrons: Number of electrons present in outermost shell of atom are called valence electrons.

  • The number of valence electrons present in Aluminum (Al) is 3.
  • An atom is electrically neutral due to equal no. of protons and electrons.
  • The loss of electrons makes it positively charged and the magnitude of positive charge is equal to the number of electrons lost.
  • Hence, Al atom has 3 valance electrons and on becoming Al+ ion, it loses 1 electrons. Therefore, remaining valance electrons = 2
