Correct Answer - Option 4 : 2 and 3 only

The correct answer is option 4.

Statement 1: TELNET is an application of TCP protocol.

False, TELNET is an application protocol that allows a user at one site to access another user at a remote system. This is done as though the remote system were locally attached. TELNET uses the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to connect to a remote system. TELNET uses TCP as an application layer Protocol.

Statement 2: SMTP provides a basic electronic mail facility and makes use of TCP to send messages to an SMTP module on another host.

True, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is an application layer protocol that uses TCP as the transport protocol. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol uses TCP port no. 25.

Statement 3: The Internet Protocol is used at the internet layer to provide the routing function across multiple networks.

True, The Internet Protocol (IP) is responsible for routing data by indicating where data packets come from and what their destination is IP makes network-to-network communications possible. Hence, IP is considered as network layer (layer 3) protocol.

Hence the correct answer is  2 and 3 only.
