Correct Answer - Option 1 : 5 litre

CONCEPT

  • Boyle's Law is a relation to the compression and expansion of a gas at a constant temperature.

CALCULATION:

Boyle's law:

PV = k

Given that:

V= 10 litre, on compressing V=? , initial Pressure P1 = 100 Nm-2 and On compressing P2 = 150 Nm-2

Using Boyle's law for constant temperature:

P1V= P2V2

\(V_2=\frac{P_1V_1}{P_2}=\frac{100\; \times \;10}{200}=5l\)

Change in volume will be (V- V2) = (10 - 5) = 5 litre.

  • Charle's Law states that the volume of a given quantity of a gas is directly proportional to the absolute temperature, In this law the volume and temperature of the gas at constant pressure.

V ∝ T

  • Gay Lussac's Law states that the pressure of a given mass of a gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature. In this law the pressure and temperature of the gas at constant Volume.

P ∝ T
