Correct Answer - Option 3 : 3 ∶ 5

Given:

Loss % of Marry = 25%

Profit % of John = 25%

Formula used:

In case of Loss, S.P = [(100 - Loss%)/100] × C.P

In case of Profit, S.P = [(100 + Profit%)/100] × C.P

Calculation:

Let the C.P of both articles be x.

According to the first condition,

S.P1 = [(100 - 25)/100] × x

⇒ 3x/4

According to the second condition,

S.P2 = [(100 + 25)/100] × x

⇒ 5x/4

According to the question,

(S.P1/S.P2) = [(3x/4)/(5x/4)]

⇒ 3 ∶ 5

∴ The required ratio is 3 ∶ 5.
