A ray of light passes from air to glass. If the angle of incidence is 74° and the angle of refraction is 37°, find the refractive index of the glass.

Data : i = 74°, r = 37°

n = \(\cfrac{sin\,i}{sin\,r}\) = \(\cfrac{sin\,74^∘}{sin\,37^∘}\)

\(\cfrac{0 .9613}{0.6018}\)

∴ n = 1.597 

This is the refractive index of the glass.
