Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs. 25000

Given:

Sum donated to NGO = 20% of monthly salary of the man

Sum shared with his wife = 15% of (total monthly salary - 20% of monthly salary of the man)

Sum donated to NGO - Sum shared with his wife = Rs. 2000

Formula used:

X% of Y = XY/100

Calculation:

Let monthly salary be Rs,. x

Sum donated to NGO = 20x/100 = x/5

Remaining salary = x - x/5

⇒ 4x/5

Sum shared with his wife = (15/100) × (4x/5)

⇒ 3x/25

So,

(x/5) - (3x/25) = 2000

⇒ 2x/25 = 2000

⇒ x = 25000

∴ Monthly salary is Rs. 25000.
