Correct Answer - Option 3 : Charming personality

Effective communication:

"Effective communication is the process of sending a message in such a way that the message received is as close in meaning as possible to the message intended". - R.W. Griffin

  • Effective communication is defined as communication between two or more persons in which the intended message is −
    • properly encoded
    • delivered through an appropriate channel
    • received
    • properly decoded and understood by the recipient(s)
  • In other words, communication is said to be effective when all the parties (sender and receiver) in the communication, assign similar meanings to the message and listen carefully to what all have been said, and make the sender feel heard and understood.

Appropriate gestures:

  • Every gesture a communicator makes should be purposeful and reflective of his/her idea words.
  • In this way, your listeners will note the effect rather than the gesture.
  • Make sure the vigor and frequency of your gestures are appropriate for your words.
  • Use strong, emphatic gestures only when your feeling for the message calls for them.

Speech modulation:

  • It refers to how you control your voice when speaking.
  • When we speak, we are able to change the message by varying the: tone, stress on words, pitch, and changing the rate of speech.

Good knowledge of the content:

  • Good communication is about understanding instructions, acquiring new skills, making requests, asking questions, and relaying information with ease.

Charming personality:

  • If you describe someone as charming, you mean they behave in a friendly, pleasant way that makes people like them.
  • A power of pleasing or attracting, as through personality; a trait or feature imparting this power; to gain or influence through personal charm; to be fascinating or pleasing. We're drawn to charming people; we'd choose to be with them over someone rude and uncompromisingly blunt.

Hence, a charming personality is not necessary for effective communication.
