Correct Answer - Option 4 : utilitarian

Communication is both expressive and receptive. Educators should be skilled in listening and understanding in thoughts and ideas of their students and elaborating things clearly. Educators need clarity in communication while talking to their students. They should be able to break down complex things into simple steps.

Most often, teacher-student communication is Utilitarian.

Utilitarian approach:

  • All teachers should take a utilitarian approach to teaching.
  • Utilitarians believe that the purpose of morality is to make life better by increasing the number of good things (such as pleasure and happiness) in the world and decreasing the amount of bad things (such as pain and unhappiness).
  • This means, in a classroom setting, that the teacher will do whatever it takes to make sure that the learning takes place effectively in a free and joyful manner along with the holistic development of the learner.

Note:

  1. Spurious: The literal meaning of spurious talk is making a false statement.
  2. Critical: Being critical refers to expressing adverse or disapproving comments or judgments.
  3. Confrontational: It is the tendency to deal with situations in an aggressive way; hostile or argumentative.

Therefore, most often, the teacher-student communication is utilitarian and not spurious, critical, and confrontational.
