Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs 1900

Given

Net discount on bag = Rs 988

Successive discount percentage = 40% and 20%

Formula used

Discount = Marked Price – Selling Price

Net successive discount = x + y - xy/100

Calculation

Net successive discount = 100 40% + 20% - 40 × 20/100 = 52 %

⇒ 52% = Rs. 988

⇒ 1% = Rs. 19

⇒ 100% = Rs.1900

The marked price of that article is Rs. 1900.
