Correct Answer - Option 1 : 100

Given

The average marks of a class in 20 papers = 160

Average of 18 papers after excluding highest and lowest marks = 162

Highest Marks = 184

Formula Used

Average = Sum of observation/No. of observation

Calculation

Total marks of the class in 20 papers = 160 × 20 = 3200

Total marks after excluding highest and lowest marks = 162 × 18 = 2916

So sum of the highest marks and the lowest marks will be = 3200 - 2916 = 284

Lowest marks will be = Sum of highest marks and the lowest marks – Highest marks

⇒ 284 – 184 = 100

∴ Lowest marks is 100
