Let

A = 2p2 + 3q2 - p2q

B = 7q - 9p2 + 5p2q

C = 4p2q + 6p2 - 8q2

Find the value of 2(A - C) + B.

1. -17p2 + 22q2 + 5p2q + 7q
2. 12p2 - 22q2 + 5p2
3. -17p2 + 22q2 + 15pq + 6q

Correct Answer - Option 1 : -17p2 + 22q2 + 5p2q + 7q

Calculation:

2(A - C) + B

⇒ 2[(2p2 + 3q2 - p2q) - (4p2q + 6p2 - 8q2)] + (7q - 9p2 + 5p2q)

⇒ 2[2p2 + 3q2 - p2q - 4p2q - 6p2 + 8q2)] + (7q - 9p2 + 5p2q)

⇒ 2(-4p2 + 11q2 - 5p2q) + (7q - 9p2 + 5p2q)

⇒ -8p2 + 22q2 - 10p2q + 7q - 9p2 + 5p2q

∴ -17p2 + 22q2  + 5p2q + 7q

The correct option is 1 i.e. -17p2 + 22q2  + 5p2q + 7q
