Correct Answer - Option 1 : 1/5

Calculation:

Modulus (2a - 3) =  |2a - 3| = 3a + 2

Two possible cases for modulus functions:

Case 1: 2a - 3 > 0

⇒ a > (3/2)       ----(1)

2a - 3 = 3a + 2

⇒ a = -5

As the value is not possible according to the condition in (1) the given case is not possible.

Case 2: 2a - 3 < 0

⇒ a < (3/2)        ----(2)

-(2a - 3) = 3a + 2

⇒ a = (1/5)

As we can see the value is possible according to the given condition of (2), hence, the given case is possible.

∴ The value of a is (1/5).

Modulus function f(x) = |x| is defined as:

|x| = x, for x > 0

|x| = (-x), for x < 0
