Correct Answer - Option 4 : 1500 MW

Concept:

Energy released by the coal = 900 × 107 kJ/hr = 2500 × 106 J/s = 2500 MW

Work output = 1000 MW

Heat rejected from the power plant will be

QR = QS - W = 2500 – 1000 = 1500 MW
