Correct Answer - Option 1 : 24 litres

Given:

A Mixture of milk and water is in the ratio of 4 : 3 respectively. If 3 litres of water is added to this mixture, the ratio of milk and water becomes 8 : 7.

Concept used:

Ratio and proportion

Calculation:

Let the original quantity of milk and water be 4x and 3x

As per the question

⇒ \(\frac{{4x}}{{3x + 3}} = \frac{8}{7}\)

⇒ 28x = 24x + 24

⇒ 4x = 24

⇒ x = 6

Original quantity of milk in mixture is 4x

Milk = 4 × 6 = 24 litres
