Correct Answer - Option 1 : 20

Given:

The ratio of ages of two students A and B is 4 : 3. One is older to the other by 5 years.

Concept used:

Ratio and proportion.

Calculation:

Let the age of A and B be 4x and 3x.

One is older to the other by 5 years

⇒ 4x - 3x = 1x

⇒ Age of A is 4x →  4 × 5 = 20

⇒ Age of B is 3x →  3 × 5 = 15

∴ The age of the elder is 20 years.
