• When the controller reactes the actuator limit, then the actuator becomes saturated and the system effectively operates in open loop.
• Due integration of windup effect we may observe large controller output i. e. large overshoot occurs.

⇒ What is saturation effect?

• When any part of a feedbadck control system reaches a physical limit.
• When controller and actvator got saturated then we observe decreases in stability decrease in damping ratio & hence PID performance get’s deteriotes when system reacts its saturation.
