Correct Answer - Option 1 : 5/8

Given:

sin θ × cos θ = √3/4,

Formula used:

sin2 θ + cos2 θ = 1

(a + b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2ab

⇒ (a + b)2 – 2ab = a2 + b2

Calculation:

sin4 θ + cos4 θ

⇒ (sinθ)2 + (cos2 θ)2 = [(sinθ) + (cos2 θ)]2 – 2(sinθ)(cos2 θ)

⇒ [1 – 2(sinθ)(cos2 θ)]

⇒ [1 – 2{(sin θ)(cos θ)}2]

⇒ [1 – 2 × (√3/4)2]

⇒ [1 – 2 × (3/16)]

⇒ (1 – 3/8)

⇒ (8 – 3)/8

⇒ 5/8

∴ The answer is 5/8.
