Given:

Average temperature of the first five days = 12° 

Temperature on 6th day = 7° 

Temperature on 7th day = 17° 

Formula Used:

Average = Sum of observations/Total number of observations

Calculation:

Total temperature of 5 days = 5 × 12 = 60°

Average temperature of the week is obtained as: 

[(sum of temperature of 5 days) + temperature of 6th day + temperature of 7th day] / 7 = (60 + 7 + 17) / 7 = 12°

∴ Average temperature of the week is 12°
