Correct Answer - Option 1 : 4.4 g/cm3

CONCEPT

  • The significant figures refer to the important single digits in a coefficient of expression of scientific data.
  • There are certain rules to be followed in the measurement of significant figures
  1. Zeroes between the nonzero digits are significant
  2. All nonzero digits are significant
  3. A final zero in the decimal points are only significant

CALCULATION:

Given - m = 10.48 g = 10. 48 × 10-3Kg, V = 2.4 cm3 = 2.4× 10-6m3

  • The density of the substance is given by

\(\Rightarrow \rho = \frac{M}{V} = \frac{10.48}{2.4} = 4.36666g/cm^{3}\)

  • Since the number six is getting repeated and it is greater than five so we can round off the above number on to

\(\Rightarrow \rho = 4.4 g/cm^{3}\)

  • Hence, option 1 is the answer
