Correct Answer - Option 3 : 6.67% loss

Given:
S.P. of cell phone and tablet = Rs. 45000
Loss on the cell phone = 33.33%
Profit on the tablet = 20%

Concept used:
S.P. = C.P. × (100 + Profit %)/100
Loss % = (C.P. – S.P.)/C.P. × 100

Calculation:
Loss on the cell phone = 33.33% = 1/3
Profit on the tablet = 20% = 1/5
Taking the L.C.M. of 5 and 3 = 15
Let the cost price of the cell phone and the tablet be 15 unit each.
Selling price of the cell phone = 15 × (3 – 1)/3 = 10 unit
Selling price of the cell phone = 15 × (5 + 1)/5 = 18 unit
Total selling price of both = 10 + 18 = 28 unit
Total cost price of both = 15 + 15 = 30 unit
Loss % = (30
– 28)/30 × 100
⇒ (2 × 10)/3
⇒ 20/3
⇒ 6.666%
⇒ 6.67%
 The overall loss is 6.67%.
