Correct Answer - Option 2 : 5 mm

Explanation:

According to IS 12843: 1989 (Clause 3.1 Table 1), The tolerances on deviations in the erected steel structures from true positions shall not exceed the values specified below:

Description Tolerances

1) Deviation in bearing levels of a member on adjacent pair of columns both across and along the building

2) Deviation of column axis at foundation top level with respect to true axis:

(a) In longitudinal direction

(b) In lateral direction

3) Deviation in the level of bearing surface of columns at foundation top with respect to true level

\( \pm \)5 mm

4) Out of plumbness (verticality) of column axis from true vertical axis, as measured at column top:

(a) For columns without any special requirements:

  • Up to and including 30 m height

\(\pm \frac{H}{{1000}}or \pm 25mm\)

whichever is less

  • Over 30m height

\(\pm \frac{H}{{1200}}or \pm 35mm\)

whichever is less

(b)For column with special requirements like cranes or such similar requirements:

  • Up to and including 30 m height

\(\pm \frac{H}{{1000}}or \pm 20mm\)

whichever is less

  • Over 30 m height

\(\pm \frac{H}{{1500}}or \pm 25mm\)

whichever is less
