\({\rm{Tensile\;stress}} = \frac{{tensile\;loaad}}{{cross - sectional\;area}}\)

Calculation:

Given Load = 40 kN = 40 × 103 N;

Area = 100 × π mm2 

\({\rm{Tensile\;stress}} = \frac{{40\; × \;{{10}^3}}}{{100\pi}} = 127.33\;MPa\)
