The rainwater harvesting systems practised India are as follows
(i) In hills and mountainous regions, people built diversion channels like guls or kuls for agriculture.
(ii) Inundation canals were built in the floodplains of Bengal, to irrigate the fields.
(iii) In arid and semi-arid regions of Rajasthan, agricultural fields were converted into room-fed storage structures that allowed the water to stand and moisten the soil.
