King Dhanabhuti was the most famous donor for the Bharhut stupa. It is said that Mauryan Emperor Akbar had built a cairn here which was discovered by Alexander Cunningham in the year 1873.
In this site, pieces of evidence were found during the excavation of Murals displaying images of Buddha, terracotta seals, agricultural material, etc.
