Directions: Each of the following items consist of two statements, one labeled as ‘Statement (I)’ and the other as ‘Statement (II)’. You are to examine these two statements carefully and select the answer using the code given below:

Statement (I): Digital universal counter timer is used to measure time period and frequency of various circuits that are assembled together to form one complete block.

Statement (II): Digital counters use logic gates which are selected and controlled by a single front panel switch known as function switch which can be in either frequency or time-base mode.

1. Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true and Statement (II) is the correct explanation of Statement (I)
2. Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true but Statement (II) is not the correct explanation of Statement (I)
3. Statement (I) is true but Statement (II) is false
4. Statement (I) is false but Statement (II) is true

Correct Answer - Option 1 : Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true and Statement (II) is the correct explanation of Statement (I)

Digital universal counter timer:

  • It is used to measure time period and frequency of various circuits that are assembled together to form one complete block because it uses logic gates which are selected and controlled by a single front panel switch known as function switch which can be in either frequency or time-base mode.
  • It can be used to count events or signals external to the system, or the can be used to time activities.
  • A counter/timer is a hardware device that must be initialized or programmed just as other I/O devices.
  • Counters and timers can be used for measuring many signals from digital logic signals through to RF and microwaves.
  • Counter technology has developed so that these counters and timers are able to measure time intervals as well as frequency.

Therefore, Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true and Statement (II) is the correct explanation of Statement (I).
