Correct Answer - Option 3 : 22 ∶ 5

Given:

The total cost price of 3 bats and 2 balls = Rs. 7600

The total cost price of 2 bats and 4 balls = Rs. 6400

Calculation:

Let the price of a bat be x and a ball be y.

3x + 2y = 7600

⇒ 6x + 4y = 15200

2x + 4y = 6400

⇒ 6x + 12y = 19200

(6x + 12y) – (6x + 4y) = 19200 – 15200

⇒ 6x + 12y – 6x – 4y = 4000

⇒ 8y = 4000

⇒ y = 4000/8

⇒ y = Rs. 500

Cost price of ball = Rs. 500

⇒ 3x + 2y = 7600

⇒ 3x + (2 × 500) = 7600

⇒ 3x + 1000 = 7600

⇒ 3x = 7600 – 1000

⇒ 3x = 6600

⇒ x = 6600/3

⇒ x = Rs. 2200

Cost price of bat = Rs. 2200

Ratio of price of bat and ball = 2200 ∶ 500 = 22 ∶ 5

∴ The ratio of bat and ball is 22 ∶ 5
