Correct Answer - Option 2 : 50 seconds

Solution:

Given: Distance between the thief and the policeman = 250 km

Speed of the thief = 8 km/h

Speed of the policeman = 26 km/h

Formula used: Speed = Distance/Time

Concept used: Relative speed = Speed of policeman – Speed of thief

Calculation: Relative speed of the thief and the policeman = 26 – 8

⇒ 18 km/h

Or 18 × (5/18)

⇒ 5 m/sec

Time taken by the policeman to catch the thief = 250/5

∴ 50 seconds
