Correct Answer - Option 4 : 40

CALCULATION   :

Number of questions correctly answered by Neha = 17 + (N – 25)/5

It is given that, he correctly answered 50% of the questions in the paper overall.

⇒ 17 + (N – 25)/5 = 50% of N

⇒ 17 + N/5 – 5 = N/2

⇒ 12 = (N/2 – N/5)

⇒ (5N – 2N)/10 = 12

⇒ 3N/10 = 12

⇒ N = (12 × 10)/3

⇒ N = 40

∴ N can assume only one value which is 40.
