The Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was introduced by the Minister of State Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions,
- It amended the Right to Information act, 2005.
- It amended section 13, 16, and 27 of the RTI Act 2005.
Note - Under this act following provisions were made -
1) The RTI Act, 2005 stated that the Chief Information Commissioner and other Information Commissioners will hold the office for a term of five years, but the bill removed this provision and gave the power to the central government to notify the term of office for the CIC and the ICs.
2) It also states that the salary of the CIC and ICs will be equivalent to the salary paid to the Election Commissioners and the Chief Secretary of the State Government.
3) It states that the salaries of the CIC and ICs will be reduced if at the time of appointment they are receiving a pension or any other retirement benefits for previous government service.
