Correct Answer - Option 1 : Rs. 800

Given:

CP = Rs. 3000 of each,

Total profit = Rs. 1200

Formula used:

SP = CP + Profit

Calculation:

Let the selling price of articles be Rs. 4a and Rs. 5a respectively.

⇒ (4a – 3000) + (5a – 3000) = 1200

⇒ a = 800

Selling price of two articles = Rs. 3200 and Rs. 4000.

Profit earned by selling article for Rs. 3200 = 3200 – 3000 = Rs. 200

Profit earned by selling article for Rs. 4000 = 4000 – 3000 = Rs. 1000

∴ Required difference = 1000 – 200 = Rs. 800
