Correct Answer - Option 1 : 1

Virtual Circuit switching:

  • It is a packet switching method.
  • In this method, before the data transfer begins in the form of packets, a dedicated path is established between the source and destination and path is called a virtual circuit.
  • Due to virtual circuit, packets are always delivered in a specific order, so delay-jitter problems do not arise during pockets delivery and this is the advantage of using virtual circuit switching techniques.
  • Virtual circuit switching is a connection-oriented technique.

So, based on the above points regarding the virtual circuit switching technique option (1) is the correct answer.

Important Points:

  • Delay in a network means time taken by data to move from one point to another point.
  • Jitter means the difference in delay between two packets.

Mainly four kinds of delay consider on network

1) Transmission delay

2) Propagation delay

3) Queuing delay

4) Processing delay
