Concept:

Standby equipment means a separate unit that is not operating, is provided beside the working unit and is ready to start when the duty unit stops.

As per government guidelines, provision of standby equipment has been considered as follows-

Single shift operation

10%

Two shift operation

20%

Three shift operation

30%

 

Other Important Points:

Redundancy means a second unit is operating in parallel with the primary duty unit and both are sharing the demand. When the primary unit fails, the second unit takes the full service.
