A bottle of wine contains 18.5% ethanol and another bottle of wine contains 24.4% ethanol. If a part of first bottle is replaced by another bottle of wine, then, the percentage of ethanol was found to be 20%. If the total quantity of wine in the second bottle is 150 ml, then, find the quantity of wine in the first bottle?

Correct Answer - Option 2 : 440 ml

Given:

First bottle, ethanol = 18.5%

Second bottle, ethanol = 24.4 %

Calculation:

By rule of allegation:

18.5%            24.4%

              20%

4.4%                      1.5%

44                             15

According to question -

⇒ 15 units = 150 ml

⇒ 1 units = 10 ml

⇒ 44 units = 440 ml

∴ The quantity of wine in the first bottle is 440 ml.
