Correct Answer - Option 2 : Both statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true, but Statement (II) is not the correct explanation of Statement (I)

Volcano:

  • A volcano is an opening in the earth’s crust through which gases, molten rocks lava, ash, steam, dust particles etc. are emitted outward in the course of an eruption.
  • Such vents or openings occur in those parts of the earth’s crust where the rock strata are relatively weak.
  • Volcanic activity is closely connected with crystal disturbances, particularly where there are zone weakness due to deep faulting or mountain folding.
  • Major earthquakes usually caused by movement along faults.
  • This is because the molten magma float over the asthenosphere that forces its way into the planes of weakness of the crust to escape

Therefore, both the statements are individually true but Statement II is not the correct explanation of Statement I.
