Correct Answer - Option 4 : 45%

Given:

Total number of students in class X = 2000

The number of girls = 60% of the number of boys

Passed Students = 40% boys + 80% girls

Calculation:

The ratio of the number of girls to boys = 60: 100 = 3: 5

⇒ 8 units = 2000

⇒ 1 unit = 250

∴ The total number of girls = 250 × 3 = 750

The total number of boys = 250 × 5 = 1250

According to the question

If 40% boys pass, then, 60% boys fail.

∴ The number of students who are failed = 60% of 1250 = 750

If 80% of girls pass, then 20% of girls fail.

∴ The number of students who are failed = 20% of 750 = 150

Now, total number of students who are failed = 750 + 150 = 900

∴ required percentage = 900 / 2000 × 100 = 45%
