5th Schedule:

  • The 5th schedule deals with the provisions related to the tribal areas and schedules areas.
  • This schedule covers all tribal areas except Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.
  • This schedule covers Article 244 of the Indian constitution.
  • The President has the power to increase the area of any Scheduled Area, only after consultation with the Governor of that State, which has the schedule areas.
  • Presently, the Scheduled Areas have been declared in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan.

3rd Schedule:

  • This schedule gives details about oath and affirmation to:

  • State Ministers
  •  Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

8th Schedule:

  •  Presently the Indian constitution has recognized 22 languages.

  • The recent amendments like the 21st amendment included the Sindhi language, the 71st amendment included Konkani, Manipuri, and Nepali languages, and the 92nd amendment included Bodo, Dogri, Maithili and Santhali language in this 8th schedule.

10th Schedule:

  • ​The provision in this schedule is related to the disqualification of members of parliament and the state legislatures.
  • This provision is added in the constitution through the 52nd amendment act in 1985, during Rajeev Gandhi Government.
  • This is also known as Anti defection law.
