Correct Answer - Option 4 : Statement I is false but Statement II is true

Statement I: False

  • Virtual memory is used to increase CPU performance or say to increase the degree of multiprogramming.
  • Statement I is saying that there is no such memory inside the computer but virtual memory is present is a computer (Some space of hard disk) so statement I is false.

Statement II: True

  • Virtual memory is designated virtual as the memory management system makes CPU realize that it has a larger size main memory at its disposal while in reality only a limited amount of main memory is available.
  • It uses some space of hard disk as an extension of primary storage.
  • Statement II is true but both are independent of each other so option 4 is the correct answer.
