Correct Answer - Option 2 :

Both Statements I and Statement II are individually true but

Statement II is not the correct explanation of Statement I

Explanation:

  • A swapping technique for freeing up memory temporarily in order to perform another task, the current program is stored (rolled out) on disk, and another program is brought into(rolled in) that memory space.
  • When a process is not executed for a long time then that process roll-out and active process in roll-in in the memory for execution this mechanism enable the interleaved execution of the process.
  • So multiple processes can execute concurrently so swapping is utilized in a system designed to support time-sharing.

So, both statements are correct, but statement II is not the correct explanation of Statement I.
