Correct Answer - Option 1 : Ganga
  • The Ganga river is having the highest number of dams in India as there are approximately 1000 large and small dam/barrage projects on the River Ganges.
  • The Godavari river has more than 350 dams/barrages built across it, among which first of all was constructed in Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh in the mid-19th century.
  • The Sardar Sarovar Dam is the largest dam built on Narmada river in Gujrat which is the world's second-biggest concrete gravity dam after America's Grand Coulee.
  • Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across the Krishna river built earliest in a series of large infrastructure projects termed as "modern temples" initiated for achieving the Green Revolution in India.
